Brief Introduction to Wet Rotary Kiln Process


The kiln body of wet rotary kiln is usually relatively long (the aspect ratio is 30-40). In order to increase the heat transfer area of the kiln, the chains are often hung at the kiln tail to accelerate water evaporation. During the production, water is added to the grinding mill to make the raw materials into a slurry with a water content of 30% to 40% in rotary kiln, and the slurry meeting the requirements after homogenization is sent into the kiln by the feeder. The clinker is calcined, and the calcined clinker is cooled by the cooler, lastly, the finished clinker will be sent to the clinker warehouse. The raw coal is dried and ground into coal powder, and then burned to supply the heat required for clinker calcination.

The characteristics of wet rotary kiln are:

since the raw material is made into slurry, so it has strong adaptability to the heterogeneous raw materials, uniform composition of raw material, stable process, high quality of fired clinker, high clinker strength grade, less dust, less fly ash at the kiln tail. However, the evaporation of 30% to 40% of the slurry moisture requires a large amount of heat, and the energy consumption accounts for 1/2 to 1/3 of the cement cost, which is higher than that of shaft kilns and dry rotary kilns. Due to the high heat consumption and energy consumption, large water consumption, my country has listed wet process cement production as the restricted and eliminated type.
